Course Overview:

Heavy Combination vehicle with one or more additional trailers

 

Requirements prior to Training:

  • Must have held a Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination driver licence for at least 12 months
  • If you hold a Heavy Rigid licence you must still undergo a Heavy Combination assessment, before going for your Multi Combination licence.
  • Must advise any medical conditions that could affect your driving ability
  • Must provide the following details so an eligibility test can be submitted to VicRoads

1. Full name
2. DOB
3. Licence number
 

MC Training On Road Assessment

The MC Training assessment will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.  The assessment officer will look at how you behave in different road and traffic situations.

 

The MC Training Exam will evaluate your skills in:

  • Accelerating
  • Gear changing
  • Lane keeping
  • Signalling braking
  • Positioning the truck on the road
  • Judging distance
  • Maintaining a suitable speed
  • Observing other road users
  • Dealing with special road or traffic situations
  • Kerbside Stop

 

    MC Training Off Road Skills Exam:

    The MC Training skills exam checks that you can:

    • Control the truck while moving in reverse
    • Reverse the vehicle into a simulated loading bay
    • Couple the vehicle to a trailer or a semi-trailer

    You will be asked to do two manoeuvres during the MC training off-road assessment.

    • Offset reverse
    • Coupling test

      MC Training Written Test

      • The written test will need to be completed to test the road knowledge based on information in the current edition of 'The Victorion Bus and Truck Drivers Handbook'.
